VA SOL's
PS.11: The student will investigate and understand basic principals of electricity and magnetism. Key concepts include:
a) static electricity, current electricity, and circuits;
b) relationship between a magnetic field and an electric current;
c) electromagnets, motors, and generators, and their uses; and
d) conductors, semiconductors, and insulators.

Objectives
- I can explain how an object gains static electricity, the process of electric discharge, and how these processes influence my life.
- I can construct and compare series and parallel circuits to determine the relationship between voltage, resistance, and current.
- I can identify situations in everyday life in which electromagnets, motors, and generators are used.
- I can identify current applications of semiconductors and their uses (e.g., diodes and transistors).
- I can explain the relationship between a magnetic field and and electric current.
- I can demonstrate and explain the following technologies/processes and how they work: solenoid, electromagnet, electric motor, generator, and electromagnetic induction.
